The Graffham Run

2017 was a fantastic success and raised over £1,600 for Graffham and Duncton Schools.  We are very pleased to report that this money has been spent on the outdoor learning spaces at both schools, providing the pupils with much needed additional facilities.

The Graffham Run 2018 aims to build on last years’ success and assist the schools fund raising objectives.   Whilst funding remains in a critical state we want to do all we can to ensure that our local schools continue to thrive even in a difficult financial climate.  So all the money we raise from the event will go directly to the schools.

And what better way of raising money than a good dose of exercise!  So put the date in your diary, grab your trainers and join us for 5k or 10k or the Junior Fun Run.  See you there!Graffham Infants Duncton Juniors

A word from Helen Martin, Head Teacher………

The Graffham run was a success in two ways, it brought the school community together with runners from all over the local area.  It also gave us much needed funds to improve our outdoor learning environments at both schools.  It was a fantastic event which we all loved: children, parents, staff and the community.  Looking forward to the next one!

Collect Sponsorship

Getting your family and friends to sponsor you is an excellent way of raising funds and will give you an extra boost when you’re training through the summer holidays.  You can do this in two ways:

  1. Create and share a fundraiser profile where others can sponsor you via the Total Giving site, or,
  2. Download a sponsorship form collecting the funds yourself which can be handed into the school or transferred to the Total Giving page after the run.

The route

5km and 10km loop

This year we will start and finish the runs within the Graffham Recreation Ground – this means the 5km loop will be 5.1km and the 10km loop will be 10.2km.

Runners head South on the grass then onto a hard compacted footpath, up a gentle incline passing Graffham Infant School and the church.  We will be turning through the West Gate onto the long tarmac drive down to Seaford College. Here you will have fantastic views over the stud farms towards Petworth.

On reaching Seaford College we will turn left, through Wallace Square crossing a short patch of compacted flint before joining a track that takes you to the top of Norwood Lane and shortly back onto smooth tarmac. Beautiful Beech and Oak trees line both sides of this road.  Where the road turns away we will join the bridleway, heading straight back towards Graffham.  A small dip in the path means the last stretch is a gentle incline before you re-appear on the Recreation Ground to the cheers and adulation of the supporters as you sprint (or shuffle) towards the finish line.

Congratulations! you’ve just run 5km… unless you want to do another lap ???
